700-year-old pub goes on sale

A 700-year-old pub, which is located next to a waterfall used in the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, has gone on the market.

The Green Dragon Inn is located in the Yorkshire Dales, and boasts a wealth of history.

Dating back to the 13th Century, it is believed that English poet William Wordsworth once stayed within its 15-acre grounds.

Owner D Mark Thompson is now looking to sell it on as he wishes to retire after 14 years of being a pub landlord, the Daily Mail reported.

The pub looks out over Hardraw Force, known as the highest single-drop waterfall in the country, where Kevin Costner bathed in the Robin Hood film.

Thompson does however plan to stay in charge of the nearby visitor centre, which allows guests to visit the famous 100-foot high waterfall.

Inside the pub are three interconnecting bars, two dining rooms and a function room, as well as 14 rooms available to let. Classic elements feature within the pub, including open fires, beamed ceilings, stone walls and flagged floors.

The property is on the market with specialist business agents Davey & Co with a £675,000 asking price for the freehold. Alternatively, potential owners can opt for a free-of-tie lease for £100,000 with a freehold purchase option.

Those interested in the adjoining cottage with three bedrooms and the self-contained apartments can express a separate interest.
