Award-winning pub presents exciting purchase opportunity

An award-winning Cotswolds pub has been put up for sale after its landlady decided he wanted to swap the beer tap for teaching and embark on a new career.

Joe Carrier has said the decision to put the Five Mile House in Duntisbourne Abbots up for sale was not taken lightly, but said that it offers an exciting prospect for any new potential owner. The acclaimed pub is on the market for £750,000, complete with planning permission to build a 100-capacity function room.

The pub's brand and reputation have been excellently cultivated by Mr Carrier during his 15-years as landlord, assuring new owners of an established and loyal customer base. Under his management, the 17th-century former coaching inn was transformed from a one-room local boozer to National Dining Pub of the Year. It is also frequently appears in the Good Beer Guide for the quality and selection of its real ales.

Mr Carrier said, "It's a great opportunity for someone to come and take it on to the next level. We have a great loyal customer base and I'm sure that won't change." He added that he believes the skills he developed in dealing with the public and solving problems at the pub will stand him in great stead when it comes to commanding a classroom.
