Bid deadline set for Cambridge Crowne Plaza

All bids from people or companies with their eyes on buying the Crowne Plaza Cambridge must be submitted by no later than 12 noon on Tuesday, October 11 this year.

The deadline for the first bids for the prestigious town centre hotel was set by Christie + Co, which is marketing the hotel on behalf of administrators Grant Thornton. The premises - which comprises 198 bedrooms - was put up for sale last month with a guide price of £35 million, after its current owners, the Quinn Group, went into administration.

The hotel has apparently already been garnering attention from prospective bidders, according to Christie + Co's Alex Campbell. He urged anyone who may be interested in buying it to make sure their bids were ready and submitted in time.

"Unsurprisingly, for such an excellently situated and appointed hotel, Christie + Co has received significant interest from both UK and overseas parties," Mr Campbell revealed.

The hotel is located in the very centre of the university city, where hotel space is in limited supply and at a very high premium. It is within walking distance of many of the university colleges, and also has The Bloomsbury restaurant, a gym and some 3,500sq ft of meeting space on site.
