Birmingham's Nitenite windowless hotel up for sale

A buyer is being sought for Birmingham's Nitenite hotel - known for its eye-catching windowless concept - after the company entered administration.

The 104-room hotel was placed into the hands of administrators from Zolfo Cooper this week, who believe they will be able to sell it successfully as a going concern. The company's 10-strong staff has been retained.

Zolfo Cooper partner, Ryan Grant, said cashflow difficulties had severely affected the hotel, which became one of the UK's first pod or capsule hotels when it opened in 2006, but it remained a lucrative prospect.

"This is clearly an attractive hotel, ideally located for both business and tourism and with an innovative forward-looking design," he said. "We are commencing a sale process with immediate effect and would welcome enquiries from interested parties."

Colliers International has been instructed by the administrators to sell the hotel. Colliers partner, Jonathan Wren, said they would be selling the hotel's long leasehold, which was 125 years from 2006.

"Having, as it does, unused space within the building to add additional bedrooms and the opportunity for the brand to be rolled out to other cities and locations, the sale of Nitenite really is a unique opportunity for potential buyers," he said.
