Blackpool pub for sale

A pub in Blackpool is to be put up for sale as part of an auction of multiple businesses in the area.

The Bloomfield, located on Ansdell Road, will be on the block on 27 February and bidding is due to start at £140,000 for the venue.

While the price is low, trading has not been easy for The Bloomfield of late. The pub was closed down in June of 2010 before being reopened in April of the following year. However, by June 2011 the pub had once again closed its doors.

Despite difficult trading conditions, the local community and authorities are keen to preserve the pub. In fact, the Ansdell Road establishment was one of the first buildings to be given special protection from the Blackpool Council heritage chiefs in order to preserve its heritage, The Blackpool Gazette reported.

The Bloomfield was listed alongside The George Hotel and the former Palladium Cinema after the buildings failed to make the national listing of protected buildings. While they didn't make the national cut, local people were keen to ensure that some protection was in place from developers, hence the local listing.

The pub is located in a three story building and is likely to need some work to bring it back up to scratch.
