Café with 'smallest UK cinema' up for sale

A café, with what is reportedly the smallest cinema in the UK inside it, has been put up for sale.

The Blue Walnut in Torquay is on the market for £50,000. The business hosts poetry and music evenings and holds its own film club in its 23-seat auditorium, which has a Blu-ray system installed for viewings.

While £50,000 would enable someone to buy the small business, offers of £250,000 or more could allow people to buy the whole connected property, which includes a three-bedroom maisonette.

Waycotts Chartered Surveyors from Torbay are handling the sale. David Jenkins from the company said that the business was a "unique sale". He added: "You don't get to use the word 'unique' very often but the Blue Walnut certainly falls into that category. The premises are compact but well arranged."

The sale could become something of a lifestyle business, with the seller recommending the café for a "film buff with a love of the arts, poetry and live music, who loves to cater and entertain".
