Chorley pub for sale

A Chorley pub has been put up for sale after undergoing refurbishment, it has been confirmed.

Developer Arley Homes purchased The Dog and Partridge in Charnock Richard last year as part of its Birches development. Concern arose that the pub would be demolished to make way for new houses but it is now clear that the company has given the pub a facelift and put it back on the market.

John Cosgrave, managing director of the developer, commented on the plans for a sale: “When the site first came to market it was a fairly rundown old railway pub.

“We had the choice of letting someone else buy it, and run the risk it could get worse and thereby have a negative effect on local property values, or redevelop it ourselves.”

The pub is located at the entrance to The Birches housing area. Mr Cosgrave noted that this makes it particularly important that the developers keep it in good condition to ensure buyers in the area are reassured that they are moving to a safe and pleasant area.

The pub has owner's accommodation upstairs and has been refurbished with an open plan bar, spacious dining areas and a good-sized beer garden.
