Community keen for St Ann's pub sale

The community in St Ann's is keen to see a sale go through for The Westminster pub in the near future.

The pub is no longer actively trading but Punch Taverns, the firm that owns the company, is hopeful for a sale. “The pub will remain closed for the foreseeable future and we are actively marketing the site for sale,” the owners said in a statement.

It is hoped that a buyer will be found soon to avoid the pub becoming a run-down empty building.

Cynthia James, chairwoman of GAINS Tenants and Residents Association, told the Nottingham Post that local people are keen for someone to buy the business and maintain its use as a pub: “The Westminster has always been there, it's one of the oldest pubs around.

“It's part of the community and a lot of people will miss it. Even though it wasn't always packed people knew that if they wanted to have a party they could go there, it's part of the community.”

She added that a “decent landlord” with a passion for customer service would be all the pub needs to bring it back to life.
