Elm Tree pub in Hampshire goes on the market

The popular Elm Tree pub near Ringwood has been put up for sale as the current owners plan to move abroad.

The Greene King lease, which is located in Hightown, a small village near Ringwood in Hampshire, has been put on the market with Fleurets, the Salisbury Journal reported today (23 April). The pub has a price tag of £245,000 plus stock at value.

The two current licensees, Tim Buckle and Alan Douglas, who have run the thatched pub for the last six years, say that although they are sad to be leaving the business behind, they now wish to move abroad. Importantly, the pub has been doing reported as doing good business in recent times, with Mr Buckle saying: “Trade has increased year on year and we feel there is a lot more to develop here."

The Elm Tree is a regular meeting place for a number of local organisations and also has a barn to host private parties. Furthermore, with a picturesque thatched roof and its location very close to the New Forest, the pub benefits from constant traffic throughout the year. It also touted as an area like to witness development over coming years.

Kate Dowd of the seller Fleurets said: “This is an exceptional site and while our clients have more than doubled trade in the last six years, there is lots more for an experienced operator to develop here.”
