Entry open for National Business Awards

Businesses are being encouraged to put themselves forward for the National Business Awards to attract the recognition they deserve for working through this difficult economic period.

Sponsored by Santander Corporate Banking, the event's Small and Medium-sized Business of the Year Award acknowledges companies that have maintained consistent growth and a strong financial performance.

Any organisation with a turnover below £25 million in their last financial year can enter, but the award will go a business that can demonstrate innovation, customer and staff engagement, strong results and an ethical approach to business.

Marcelino Castrillo, head of SME at Santander UK, commented: “Small and medium sized businesses are the drivers of the UK economy, and the National Business Awards are an excellent opportunity to recognise the innovation, flexibility and hard work of these companies.

“I would urge companies to enter these prestigious awards to celebrate the success of British businesses.”

Caroline Jackson Levy, CEO at UBM, added that the National Business Awards are the UK's “most prestigious independent business awards”, noting that the SME category helps to raise the profile of these companies.

Those hunting for a business to buy might want to look out for companies with such an accolade as it can suggest that there is a sound business ethic within the group.
