Fox & Hounds Shipston on the market

The Fox & Hounds pub in Shipston has been put on the market as the family that currently own it are set to enter retirement.

The Grade-II listed building currently offers a range of carefully chosen wines and draft beers, as well as a bar menu. There are also one twin bedroom and two double bedrooms that are currently let out. Each room has en-suite facilities and offer views to the surrounding countryside.

The building itself dates back to 1540 and has long formed an important focal point for the community. The current owners have been in place since 2006.

The inn is also at the heart of a network of footpaths and bridleways, which has helped it build up an attractive base of walkers and other country types as customers.

Peter Brunt, director for hotels with Colliers International, commented on the sale: “This delightful pub is everything you would hope to find in a pretty Cotswold village. The trading areas simply ooze character and atmosphere and there is considerable scope to develop trade.”

He added that the property has a number of charming features, including a “beautiful open fireplace” and a “low-beamed ceiling and a charming brass top bar servery”.
