'Haunted' pub for sale

Yorkshire's most haunted pub is for sale after its owners decided to put the venue on the market.

The Busby Stoop near Thirsk is being sold by Enterprise Inns for £200,000, according to reports from Thirsk First. The pub is on the market "without any covenants or restrictions in place", meaning that its new owners could enjoy some freedom in deciding what to do with the property.

Karen Rowley, the pub landlady who has run it for the last ten years, told the news source that there has been some interest in the sale already. "We’ve had about five different people interested in the pub but none of them have been fruitful," she said.

"Enterprise Inns put the pub up for sale in December last year because it’s just too dilapidated now. Inside it’s quite rundown and needs too much work doing to it. It can be made into anything I think, if the buyers get planning permission, so it doesn’t have to stay as a pub."

Ms Rowley added that the summer months tend to be particularly fruitful for the business, with a lot of tourists and regulars heading out for a few drinks.
