Headington pub for sale again

A pub in Headington, Oxfordshire, is on the market again after residents failed to submit the required documentation to obtain preferred bidder status.

The Fairview Inn was designated a community asset in July after locals launched a successful campaign to save the pub. They were awarded a six-week time period within which to submit a notification to the council signalling that they wish to become a preferred bidder for the property.

However, this time has now elapsed and no bid was received, meaning that the property can be put up for sale on the open market.

Glyn Millard, the pub's 62-year-old manager spoke to the Oxford Mail about the sale: “I really hope it stays open as a pub. I am trying really hard to keep it going so that if people come and view it they will see it working as a pub. I am sticking at it as long as I can in the hope that someone will take a chance on it.”

He added that someone new could turn the pub into a “gold mine” if they approached the business with the right attitude.

The Fairview Inn is up for sale for offers in the region of £385,000.
