Landmark Lancashire pub put on the market

A landmark pub in Padiham, Lancashire has been put up for sale for £100,000.

The Kings Arms is located in the small town of Padiham just three miles west of Burnley but has been empty for several years. The once popular pub pulled in customers from around the town and surrounding villages as it was on the town centre drinking circuit.

Having been boarded up for several years, the pub has now been put back on the market for a lower price, the Burnley Express reported. The freehold premises, which borders the Old Black Bull pub that has also closed down, is said to be an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to run a pub or restaurant, as well as builders interested in a redevelopment opportunity.

The sellers, James A Baker Property Consultants, said: “The Kings Arms is a stone built, two storey building. The property is in reasonable condition throughout.

“Furnished in a traditional style, the internal trading floor is open plan, set around a single servery, and comprises: informal drinking, dining, entertainment and games areas.”

The pub has a function room to the rear with its own dedicated bar that can cater to around 50 people. Furthermore, there is private accommodation situated on the first floor – this comprises one double bedroom, two single bedrooms, living room, office, kitchen, bathroom and an attic studio.

The Kings Arms offers “considerable scope for local public house operators and restaurateurs”, the sellers stated. The property has potential for a range of commercial uses, subject to the granting of relevant permissions, and is likely to be of interest to local developers and builders.
