Lincolnshire former working mill in £180,000 sell off

A grade ll-listed mill, home to Curio Café, in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, is going back on the market after failing to sell at auction in December last year with a guide price of £180,000.

John and Isola Partridge are keeping the café up and running while Moneys Mill is marketed by Mundys Estate Agents for the same price £180,000.

The pair have been managing the café together for the past seven years, having undertaken major renovation works to the cost of £45,000, earning the building a Civic Trust award in 2010.

The attempted auction sale approach didn’t suit the property – a former working mill built in the 18th century, which needs to be seen before purchasing it, Mr Partridge said.

He said: “We can’t afford to drop the price any more, we bought the Mill for £135,000 and have spent £45,000 renovating it, so we would be working at a loss if we let it of for less than £180,000.”

The mill has permission form North Kesteven District Council to be used as a restaurant, café or shop unit. A spokesman for the council also confirmed that new consents could be requested to change its use, as long as any new plans are in line with the property’s grade ll-listed status.
