Loch-side hotel offers lucrative business potential

An award-winning Scottish country house hotel has been put on the market for those looking to take on a business in one of the remotest parts of Scotland.

Kilcamb Lodge is located on the shores of Loch Sunart, on the isolated but spectacular Ardnamurchan Peninsula, and often attracts visitors who are on their way to the islands of Mull and Skye.

The lodge is minutes away from the village of Strontian, and eight miles from the ferry terminal with access to Fort William. It has had great success in recent years as a luxury rural retreat, but the current owners are looking to move on to a new venture and do not want to see the business lost.

The lodge building itself is said to be one of the oldest existing stone houses in Scotland, thought to date back to the early 1700s. The building, which is constructed entirely from stone and slate, has been painstakingly renovated to offer modern provisions while retaining its historic character.

Feature pieces of the existing architecture that have been retained include wide fireplaces and timber-clad walls and ceilings.

The house comprises eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms and four reception rooms, while the grounds take in some 22 acres of prime land, with 10 offering loch frontage and 12 providing woodland views. There are also two deep-water moorings with the hotel and a separate detached bungalow.

Kilcamb Lodge is being marketed with a guide price of £1.4 million by agents Knight Frank.
