Man United London headquarters for sale

The London headquarters of one of England's most prominent football clubs are up for sale, it has been revealed.

Investigations by the Evening Standard found that Manchester United football team's London location - Stratton House in Piccadilly, located opposite the Ritz hotel – is being sold by the West End of London Property Unit Trust (Welput). Strutt & Parker and DTZ are understood to be handling the sale.

A significant proportion of the building was occupied by the football team's business practices, with 11,500 square foot accounted for. They moved into Stratton House after growing out of the previous space available to them on Pall Mall.

The building is up for sale for £170 million. Back in 2005 it was purchased by Welput for £82.5 million. However, an extensive refurbishment of the location was completed in 2009 and a number of new features were added, including a luxury penthouse apartment.

The sale is expected to generate a substantial level of interest, as will the inevitable move of the Manchester United headquarters. One source told the paper: "This is prime freehold, it’s brand new and it has all the attributes to appeal to any overseas buyer."
