Michelin Guide-listed coaching inn up for sale

A country pub in Northumberland that’s listed in the Michelin Guide for 2017 is up for sale for £130,000.

The Barrasford Arms in the village of Barrasford near Hexham, dates back to 1870 and features a bar and lounge, one private and two public dining rooms, seven ensuite letting bedrooms and a detached three bedroom cottage.

Owner and head chef Tony Binks took over the business in 2006 and has since significantly built up the food offering at the pub, resulting in a place in next year’s Michelin Guide.

Guide inspectors describe the inn as having a “traditional, homely atmosphere, with cosy fires and regular competitions for the locals”.

The Barrasford Arms is on the market on a free of tie leasehold basis, with an annual rent of £15,250.

David Cash at Christie & Co, who are handling the sale, said: “The Barrasford Arms is a very well established business, with an excellent reputation. It regularly hosts quoits tournaments, darts finals and vegetable competitions so is a key hub for both the local and wider community.

“It benefits from multiple income streams by way of food, drink and accommodation sales, whilst giving the owners an opportunity to retreat to a detached cottage located away from the main building.”

“This would be a fantastic business for any kind of buyer to take over, whether you’re an experienced operator or perhaps a chef looking for a new challenge.”
