Owner offers shop for free

A cheese shop owner plans to give away his premises if he doesn’t find a buyer by the end of the month.

The Crumbly Cheese shop in Victoria Road West, Fylde has been on the market for a while, but a new buyer has not been found.

Owner Stuart Chesher is having to step down on health grounds and is appealing for a new buyer, or else he’ll have to offer the business for free.

Speaking to The Blackpool Gazette, he explained his offer to give away the shop for free: “I have to be out by November 29. Originally it was the 17th but they asked me to stay on a little longer.

“I don’t want it to close and the community doesn’t want it to close; that’s why I made the offer.”

Mr Chesher added that the shop would be ideal as a delicatessens.

Mr Chesher has been running the business, which sells cheese, eggs and preserves for four years now and says he has an established customer base.

He said: “There are people who have bought cheese here for 40 years.

“I have had lots of little old ladies coming in and saying they will be very disappointed, so it would be a shame if it were to close.”

The plea for a new buyer to come forward has been shared across social media sites and has got the attention of local MP Paul Maynard, who expressed his desire for the shop to stay open on Twitter.
