A pub described as being a 'picture postcard' building is for sale in Corscombe at an auction.
The Fox Inn is to go on the market at a freehold guide price between £275,000 and £350,000 as one of 30 West Country lots to be sold by land and property auctioneers Clive Emson.
Included in the lot is a sunken garden, two sizeable car parks and owner's accommodation. The sale price is also expected to reflect the fact that the Fox Inn is a prominent feature in Corscombe and dates from the 16th century.
Graham Barton, an auctioneer with Clive Emson, told the Dorset Echo that the property will offer the purchaser a number of development options. He remarked: “This is a ‘picture postcard’ pub enjoying a delightful setting. The lucky buyer will have the chance to develop a popular destination for those seeking good quality food and drink.”
The auction is to be held on 19 April at the St Mellion International Resort near Plymouth.
The news comes as Young & Co Brewery plc has launched 14 pubs onto the market, some of which are empty, while others have struggled to diversify and sustain business.
