Preston pub for sale

A popular pub in Preston, which draws many football fans, has been put up for sale on a leasehold basis.

The Sumners, in Watling Street Road, Fulwood, is owned by landlady Joanne Bridge. However, she is considering a move overseas and is looking into the sale of the lease on the pub to see if it is worthwhile.

Speaking to the Lancashire Evening Post, Ms Bridge, who runs the pub with her partner Mark Beattie, explained that they will only leave if the offer is right as they are still very committed to the business.

“It is a very good pub, we do not get any trouble makers and it is great when North End are playing or there are games on the television,” she explained. “And there is definitely a growth opportunity on the food side.”

The pub includes a lounge and dining room with 140 covers and a separate public bar or function room with 40 covers. The seller claims that it provides the “ideal opportunity” for an enthusiastic new operator to work on the existing wet trade by introducing new aspects to the trade, such as live music or a wider food listing.
