Prices reduced for two nightclubs in Wales

Two nightclubs in Wales, which were shut last summer, face being auctioned off if a buyer does not step forward with an offer.

The doors of the former Grand Theatre, home to the Broadway Boulevard in Llandudno were shut for the last time in June 2013 after its parent company Atmosphere Bars and Clubs entered administration. Another of its venues - Chicago Rock Café in Wrexham – also closed. Total job losses as a result of the closures add up to 40.

The Boulevard club was put up for sale for £750,000 and Chicago’s for £500,000. The pair had been recently acquired as part of a portfolio sale, but now the new owner is looking to dispose of the non-core venues.

Prices for the clubs have been dropped to encourage a purchase, with the boulevard club now on the market for £500,000 and Chicago’s for £300,000. Should a sale not be forthcoming an auction could be carried out.

Leisure property agent Fleurets is managing the sale process for the pair. David Sutcliffe, from the agents, told the Daily Post: “The new owners are keen to dispose of these non-core assets and with a view to obtaining a quick sale the price has been reduced so as to attract some further interest.”

Aberconwy AM Janet Finch Saunders said she would like to see the Boulevard site back in use again, maybe as a “music hall, a theatre, old style cinema, and perhaps an all round family entertainment centre”.
