Restaurant in Birmingham’s Chinatown goes on the market

The Shanghai Shanghai restaurant in Birmingham’s Chinatown has been put up for sale for £150,000.

The critically acclaimed Chinese restaurant, which is on the first floor of the city’s Arcadian complex, covers approximately 3,000 square feet and can accommodate more than 140 people, the Birmingham Post reported. The eatery was also recently refurbished by the owners so is said to be in very good condition.

The property is being marketed by Christie + Co. Because of the state of the establishment and its prime location – which is alongside many other retailers, restaurants and bars, as well as being close the New Street Station – Shanghai Shanghai is expected to receive a lot of interest from potential buyers.

The restaurant is well known in the area for its Dim Sum and high quality food for affordable prices. In 104 online reviews, 84 per cent of diners said they would recommend it to other people.

Paul Reilly, from the property adviser's Birmingham office, who is handling the sale, said: "It is rare to find a business like this for sale in the Chinese Quarter and we expect plenty of interest with an ever-increasing, multicultural population coming to the second city to study and work."

The £150,000 premises is being sold as a leasehold interest.
