Sale of Perth building attracts hospitality interest

A number of hotel companies and hospitality entrepreneurs are thought to be among the bidders who have expressed interest in a prime town centre building in Perth in Scotland.

The former Pullars building on Mill Street is being sold by Perth and Kinross Council, who have given any interested bidders until Wednesday, January 18 to come forward with any realistic offers. A council spokesman said they had received seven notes of interest so far, proposing the transformation of the building for a range of uses, but there was significant interest coming from the hospitality trade.

Nina Stobie, from the property's selling agent, Jones Lang LaSalle, said, "We introduced the property to the market at the end of August and a positive level of interest has been generated.

"Interest has come from a range of uses, which include residential, hotel and office use. There is strong interest and we would expect a range of serious offers by the closing date."

The complex was used as the local branch of the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) but has lain vacant since the department relocated in 2005. The building dates back to 1865, and originally housed the Pullars dyeworks.
