Shock closure Bath hotel up for sale

The luxury Hinton Grange hotel, near Bath, has been put up for sale, two months after it closed unexpectedly.

Agents marketing the prestigious country house hotel complex at Dyrham have said that they have full confidence that the hotel could trade well again, under the right management, and expect it to stoke a high level of interest.

The hotel, which has 21 rooms, is being sold by the Cirencester office of real estate firm, Colliers International, under the instruction of administrator, Jon Cookson. The property is set in six acres of picturesque grounds that, prior to the administration in July, gave it tremendous local popularity as a venue for weddings.

Alastair Murchie, from Colliers International, said that there was strong faith in the hotel to regain its position as a successful business.

"Whilst the business closed its doors in July, this is a great opportunity to acquire a very pretty property that has traded well in the past and will surely do so again," he said. "We expect a good level of interest as hotels near Bath do not come to the market often."

Offers are being sought in excess of £700,000 for the freehold of the property, parts of which date back to the 1400s.
