Small business owners remain positive

Research has shown that small business owners remain positive that their endeavours will be successful.

Conducted by Deluxe Corp, a company that helps small businesses with marketing, the study looked at the viewpoints of around 1,000 small business owners and found that 86 per cent of them believe they can do anything they put their minds to.

In an insight into the mind of a business owner, a further 77 per cent said that they would rather learn from failure than never try and 89 per cent described themselves as leaders, while 54 per cent said that they do not want a boss.

Tim Carroll, Deluxe's vice president of small business engagement, noted that company owners are generally very confident people who are “very aware of the risks they're stepping into”. He added: “They're supremely confident despite knowing the risks.”

The research is interesting given the high rate of business failures. Between 50 and 70 per cent of business ventures fail within the first 18 months but the determination of entrepreneurs means that many will continue to try new ventures and learn from their past difficulties.
