Small business people ‘keen to network’

Those just starting out in business or looking to buy their first small company are likely to find that networking can be a great tool for growth.

Research conducted by MOO, a digital print business, has found that more and more small firms are keen to network with others and expand their operations or contacts.

The company surveyed its followers on Facebook and Twitter as to what they saw as their biggest barrier to business was over the last 12 months and 61.5 per cent stated that it was not having enough time to meet people face to face.

Distractions in the office was cited by 23 per cent as another problem, while 15 per cent said that too many emails was presenting a barrier to getting on with business.

MOO’s head of marketing, Paul Lewis, commented: “Nothing quite beats looking someone straight in the eye – so our advice is to be confident, be sincere and leave a lasting impression. And remember, networking can happen anytime, anyplace, anywhere – the train, the pub or the gym – so keep some business cards on you at all times!”
