Staff at the Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre are looking to raise funds to purchase the venue after the seller experienced difficulties selling on the open market.
The centre was put up for sale by Ramada Jarvis back in 2010, but it failed to find a buyer. Ramada later went into liquidation in 2011 and the location was taken over by Jupiter Hotels Ltd.
Now the ski centre is back on the market and the staff want to raise about £1.5 million to take it over.
Among the 51 employees are a national dry slope champion and an ex-British snowboarding team member. They are seeking backing from external investors as well as smaller scale supporters.
Sue Dermody, joint chief instructor at the centre, commented: “It really needs to be in the hands of people with a true passion for skiing.
“We truly believe that this is the best way forward for the centre and its users, which is why we are asking for support from the public.”
The centre attracts more than 10,000 visitors a year and is one of the oldest slopes in the country having been established for around 30 years.
