Windsor pub for sale

A pub in the centre of Windsor has been put up for sale, it has been confirmed.

The Fawn, located in St Leonard's Road, is being sold by its owners Punch Taverns, with a pub and bar specialist appointed to manage the sale.

At the moment it is unclear what kind of parties are showing an interest in the pub. It has been given a price tag of £550,000 on the freehold, contents and premises but it is uncertain whether it will be sold off to another pub company, an individual or a property developer.

Martin Higgins, who is the landlord of another local pub the Prince Albert, commented: “It looks like it will be another one gone. I should imagine it will be sold off to developers.”

Mr Higgins had put in a bid for another property in the area, The Bricklayers Arms, in Hatch Lane. Unfortunately, he was pipped at the post by another bidder, councillor Tom Bursnall, who offered a higher bid than that of Mr Higgins and plans to build four houses in place of the pub.

The local landlord has since told The Royal Borough Observer that he won't be bidding for The Fawn.
