Workington pub on the market

A pub in Workington town centre is on the market, advertised as being a well-known stop on the town's drinking 'circuit'.

The Yankees pub on Washington Street pub has been operated by the Walker family since 1986 but the time has come for its owners to sell-up and move on as they look to their retirement.

Buyers might be interested to learn that the sale is due to retirement rather than business problems as the modern bar and restaurant maintains a “high turnover and excellent profit”, according to the agents.

In addition to the bar and restaurant, the premises includes a dance floor with a DJ stand, a games area with a darts board and pool table, a catering kitchen, cellar and stores on the ground floor.

Around 450 customers can be accommodated through these facilities, while the business takes up to 35 part-time staff and two full-time managers to run efficiently.

There are also two self-contained flats above the included in the sale, along with an inventory of trade fixtures, fittings, equipment and furniture. The sale is set to go through for somewhere in the region of £700,000.
