Cambridge pub for sale

The Free Press, a pub in Cambridge, is on the market after the landlord announced his intention to focus on his new pub.

Craig Bickley, who has been the pub's landlord for 13 years, is shifting his focus across to the Alexandra Arms in Petersfield, leaving the Prospect Row pub up for grabs. Fortunately, the pub's owner, Greene King, has confirmed that it will be kept as a pub, rather than repurposed.

UK small business owners 'work fewer hours than overseas counterparts'

Another perk to buying a small business in the UK has sprung up from the results of a recent survey conducted by Hiscox.

The research looked at 500 small businesses in six countries: the UK, Germany, France, the US, Netherlands and Spain. It found that entrepreneurs in the UK worked for an average of 37.6 hours a week, while the average was 41 hours. 'Over half' of small firms expect to grow

Research has suggested that small businesses are feeling increasingly confident about the future, with over half stating that they expect to grow over the course of the next 24 months.

Archers pub for sale

The pub that sparked off long-running BBC Radio 4 series, The Archers, has been put up for sale.

Located in the Worcestershire village of Inkberrow, The Old Bull pub is said to be the fictional setting for the series.

Consumers have shown a preference for buying from small businesses when given the choice.

Research conducted by AXA Business Insurance, revealed that consumers are happy to pay about five per cent more to buy a similar item from a small business. For more expensive items, people were prepared to pay slightly more with a six per cent margin identified.
